Pastor Mike Ascher and ReneeREV. MIKE ASCHER – After 25 years of pastoral ministry in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, the Lord called Mike Ascher to join the pastoral staff at Good News in 2012, where he served as co-pastor with Dr. Walt Coles for two years. He became senior pastor in March of 2014. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Studies from Bob Jones University in 1987, a Master of Ministry degree from Northland International University in 1993 and a Specialist in Ministry degree from Bob Jones University in 2014. Pastor Ascher also has extensive training and experience as a Biblical counselor. Mike and Renee are the grateful parents of eleven children. Pastor Ascher serves as chairman of the board of Armed Forces Baptist Mission and is also a chaplain with the Chesapeake Police Department.

NATHANIEL BROWN joined the pastoral staff of Good News Baptist Church in 2015 after completing his studies at The Crown College of the Bible where he earned Bachelor of Biblical Studies in Missions and Master of Missiology degrees. He and his wife Rebekah were married the same year. Nathaniel has a desire to be a help and blessing to the pastor and the church family and is burdened to see the ministry of Good News continue to grow.

Youth Pastor Mark Taylor and PattyMARK TAYLOR joined the United States Coast Guard in 1975.  Because of the influence of Christ-centered Coast Guardsmen and the ministry of Good News Baptist Church he came to know Christ in 1981.  God opened the door for full-time Christian service in 1987 to minister to teen and military men and women.  He has a great desire to see military men and women come to know Christ and to disciple them for the glory of God.

KEN HEDRICK is our Music Director. For the past fifteen years, Ken has ministered in Illinois, Maryland, Georgia, and Virginia primarily in the area of music. He received his B.A. degree in music in 1993 and M.M. degree in music in 1995 from Bob Jones University. He and his wife Jodi have three children. Their names are Kenney, Morgan and Trent. Ken is in charge of our music and our young married’s group. Ken has always had a burden for music and people. It is his prayer that God will use Christ honoring music to praise our Savior, draw hearts to God’s Word, and encourage believers in their walk with Him.
